YOU ALWAYS HAVE CHOICE TO GO FOR A TOURIST BUSES WHICH ARE A BIT MORE EXPENSIVE BUT PROVIDES YOU ALL THE FACILITIES & SECURITY TOO.

I HAVE ENCOUNTERED MANY TOURISTS WHO ENJOY A RIDE ON TOP OF THE BUS, WHICH I BELIEVE IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE FOR THEM TOO.

THERE ARE POSITIVE THINGS FOR TRAVELERS & NEGATIVES TOO. OF COURSE AS A CONSCIOUS TRAVELER IT IS OUR DUTY TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR US especially when WE know there might be some scams around too.

PEACE !!!

MANY OF THE VILLAGERS IN REMOTE PLACES IN NEPAL HAVEN'T SEEN A FOREIGNER. THEY HAVE TESTED SWEETS AFTER A LONG TIME OR EVEN FOR THE 1ST TIME IN LIFE BECAUSE OF POVERTY & SUCH.

THE GOVERNMENT PROVIDES FREE EDUCATION TILL HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL IN MANY CASES IN MANY PARTS OF NEPAL, HOWEVER THEY DO NOT HAVE PENS & PENCILS TO WRITE WITH OR HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THEIR TEXT BOOKS......

IF YOU KINDLY HELP THEM, I BELIEVE IT IS HELP WHICH THEY WILL NEVER FORGET IN THEIR LIFE. YOU DOLLAR WORTH OF FREEBIES TO POOR & NEEDY BECOMES A MILLION DOLLAR GIFT FOR THEM.

PLEASE THINK TWICE & THINK POSITIVELY TOO. TIME & SITUATION MAKES PEOPLE WHO THEY ARE & HOW THEY ARE IN GEOGRAPHICALLY CHALLENGING NEPAL.

PEACE !!!

Any new place or country you go to, one has to be careful and use some common sense. You do have some valid points and if I were you I would stick to those, instead of sounding paranoid. Persons tending to go to the Bahamas or a Carnival cruise will definitely not look at Nepal as their typical vacation. Going to Nepal will be about new cultures and seeking some sort of adventure. Riding on top of buses, etc.. are valid points and one should avoid them. But going white water rafting is OK- just go for the easy ones like Trisuli, etc.. and choose a reputable company. Also going on treks alone by yourself is not for every one. Even the most travelled routes do not have a tea shop every block. Hiring a guide is cheap in Nepal-consideri ng the consequences. For a few hundred dollars, he will guide you along the trail, explain to you about the culture and in case of some emergency is there for you. You can have the best insurance or facilities, but that will be no help if something comes up and you are alone in the mountains. Also about schools being along the trekking routes, this is no coincidence. The trekking routes are not only for trekkers. More than anything it is for the villagers. You forget those are the mountain highways and have been there for hundreds of years.

This is really bad news don't trust about 100% .Yes there are few bus are older but micro buses are faster but you will suffer when you will fall in an accident . They drive fast and sometime you will be in riverbank . In mostly buses accident are related with micro buses. Try to read Nepalnews.com then you will know it i am fake or write.

Sad to say I visited Nepal a while back and drank nothing but bottled water when I arrived. Three days later I came down with the worst stomach/kidney/ something infection of my life and spent 5 days in hospital. Ironically later on, I drank local well water in villages and was fine.

Theres a well organized gang thats working right here in America,The pretent that they work for the Goverment and let you know that you have been offered a Grant,They get the victim to send $150.00 with the promise of typically between $5.600 to $7.500 The money is sent to Kathmanbu,Nepal and picked up by Ambika Nawarkoti among other names, they typically use Verison phones out of Virginia,Maryla nd and Washington DC,They have a middle guy in New Jersey,I was able to trace them down right in front of the Pentagon in DC but missed them by seconds,What they dont know is im not going to stop until I catch them and being that they have no problem resorting to murder will make my job that much easier.

It's not just children asking. 20+ yr old women asking for chocolate! Yesterday what seemed like a very pleasant man named Hom, got angry and wished me bad karma for not giving him money... Which, ruined a beautiful walk.
"Hom's home from home" in Sarangkot Pokhara NOT a home I'd suggest anyone to visit!

BEWARE of the BLUE BAR - RIP OFF - SCAM
so u go into a Bar to watch the Ladies Dance and have a drink of Coke, (Bottle) - You ask the price of the Coke so no surprises. 185 ruppie (US$150) all good. so you think. A girl sits beside you, starts drinking shots, at the same table, BUT you have not spoken a word. Your Bill turns up for 3000 ruppie, they want you to pay for her drinks. You refuse and an argument starts. I paid 1000 rupee just to walk away without an huge argument, BUT DO NOT get caught.
